Don’t Be Like That

A number of years back I was bumming over some chick. Friggin chicks. And I wrote and recorded a song which was originally intended for release on my second album, ‘First Sign of Anything’. The album started taking a different direction and the track got shelved because sonically it didn’t really fit.

Well, last night I was digging around in an old hard drive and found it, listened to it, and was like, why the heck didn’t I ever release this thing?

I’m actually thinking I might go ahead and do that at some point…

Anyway, it’s called ‘Don’t Be Like That‘ and I thought I’d share it with you guys and see what you think. I dig it.

To listen and download the track click the play button below. The player is locked, but as soon as you scroll over it you’ll get instructions on how to unlock it. Takes 4 point 7 seconds 🙂

Shoot me a comment and let me know what you think.

  • Hi John, trying to share and download a sample of your Viral Music Player above. It won’t share or unlock. It’s not responding in either browser IE or FF. Also, would love to get my VMP on a landing page jus like this one.

  • Although it has words – “Life… Isn’t ever-y-thing” – this Elton John composition can rightly be classed as an instrumental. Guy Burchett was a messenger for Elton’s label, Rocket Records. According to reviewer Claude Bernadin, Elton wrote and recorded this piece on the afternoon of Sunday, August 18, 1978. He had felt it was a song about death, and only learned the next day that Guy had been killed that very afternoon in a motorcycle accident.

Holy crap dude, are you … the guy who post on wickedfired, had a blog and it got taken down by Bev Clevement? LOL.

    • John Oszajca says:

Hey Friend, no, I think you have me confused with someone else. Not familiar with what you are referring to nor am I involved with WickedFire, Bev Clement, or anything to do with a blog being taken down. What are you referring to exactly?

      Regardless, thanks for posting.

I can’t believe I finally found you! When I lived in Seattle in the 90’s one of my good friends gave me a mixtape with 4 of your songs on it and I was so in love with your music but he said that it was just a recording of you doing a live show in a coffee shop or some small venue and it wasn’t available – it was like this super secret insider bootleg. I remember him raving about how you played every instrument yourself and all the vocals were yours too. I was going through some old tapes recently and found the cover to the handwritten song list my friend gave me and your name shot into my head like lightning – it’s been SO LONG!!! I found 2 of those songs on itunes – Where’s Bob Dylan when you need him and I might look white. The other 2 aren’t anywhere to be found – the lyrics to one were something about “I went down (to mexico?) and went down into a cave”…..it’s a haunting song that I really really loved so much. The other one is Hey baby would you like to come over, we can listen to records or something, we can listen to records or something, I love it when you cry…… Sorry – that isn’t much to go on but it’s your art so hopefully you will know. Anyway, if you can lead me to somewhere I can find those missing songs I would be forever grateful. I’ve already purchased everything there is for you on iTunes…….I just need a little more for old time’s sake 🙂 I don’t facebook or twitter or all those other social things so the only way to do this was to leave a message on your website. Thank you so much – you are amazing!!

      Hey Kim,

Thanks for the comment. I love hearing from folks back in Seattle. The songs you are talking about are “I don’t want to die” and “Slut”. They were favorites back in the day but just never quite fit into any of the albums.

They aren’t available at the moment but in the not too distant future I will be putting together an archive of sorts where people can get all the old material. Should be done by the end of the year. If you haven’t already, sign up for the mailing list and I’ll send a notice out when it’s ready.

Thanks again for reaching out. Happy to have you here.

Just listened to it with my 2 year old baby girl…. and she was bopping along to it!!! So with HER seal of approval… it’s golden!!!!! (and I loved it too 🙂

  • Susan says:

John – You have got to release this one! Why in the world you’ve been hiding it in your archives is beyond me. ;o)

    • John Oszajca says:

Thanks Susan, yeah, I might just pull some of these off cuts that never fit on any albums and put together a whole new one. But I have another album already in line to come out first 🙂

Thanks for listening and for the kind words.

  • JonO says:

Once again proving that you have yet to make a song I don’t like. Well done!

  • Charley says:

Hey, my friend. That is a nicely written and performed song. Um…so what are you gonna do with it? Sounds like it should be on an album! 🙂

    • John Oszajca says:

Yeah, not really sure. I think I will do something with it at some point. I have album number 4 in the can and ready to go out later this year. This track will have to hold tight for a little while longer. Thanks for the kind words.

  • Darlene Martin says:
